Beginning with the title selection Areeas and Moodayz craft a deep and engaging progressive techno hybrid. Anchored by a punchy groove, charged rhythms and devilish effects, it's both ominous and mysterious from the outset. Evolving smoothly, astral hooks and striking sonics create a compelling narrative leading in the main break. Emotive overlays initiate the centrepiece, adding a unique emotional response, while tastefully tense modulation melts down to a cavernous drop and suitably cosmic finale. The companion piece 'Azalea'' sits as a perfect complement with its otherworldly vibe and dynamic dance floor appeal. Chugging beats and shapely grooves set the foundation for clustered motifs and cinematic overlays to segue into the second act. Opening up further, the main break adds depth to the emotional narrative as placid pads and effervescent sonics unite for a classy crescendo and reflective finale.
The lone interpretation of Remedial' is provided by label AandR Paul Anthonee who returns for his second appearance. The Cyprus based producer has the distinction of delivering the inaugural Astral Records offering earlier this year with the release of his A World Beyond' EP. Also laying claim to outings courtesy of Beatfreak Recordings, Lost On You, Parquet, Steyoyoke and Suara, Paul now returns to Astral Records with a powerful rendition of Remedial'. Backed by a rippling groove and tight rhythms, it's cavernous pulse quickly becomes infectious. Billowing stabs and striking effects offset each other nicely, as fiery percussion builds momentum across the first act. Utilized beautifully, the lead theme strikes at opportune moments, blanketing the pulsating underbelly, before perfectly segueing into a tense, effects-laden break and dramatic final movement. A stunning interpretation from Paul which rounds out a must have Astral Records debut for Moodayz and Areeas.
